Florissant is an unincorporated town approximately 15 miles west of Woodland Park. The area is mostly known for its close proximity to the Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument, Hornbeck Homestead, Mueller State Park and Dome Rock Loop. Florissant sits at an elevation of 8200 feet and has a population of just over 3500 residents. The town offers a few well established restaurants, antique shops, feed stores, Florissant Library and gas stations.
There are many subdivisions that incorporate this area, including two of the largest subdivisions in the State of Colorado; Indian Creek and Colorado Mountain Estates. The homes in this area enhance a lifestyle of outdoor and recreation living; whether it is horse properties, ATV trails, hunting, hiking or fishing. There are no schools in Florissant. Families can elect to use Cripple Creek or Woodland Park and even a few use close by Lake George Charter School.
