Cripple Creek - Victor
Cripple Creek and its sister city Victor are historic cities on the southwest side of Pikes Peak at an elevation just over 9400 feet. During the early 1900’s they were known as substantial gold mining areas with tens of thousands of people living in the area. Today with a population of approximately 1600 residents between the two cities the area is primarily known for its gaming casinos, tourism, recreation, shopping and the operation of the last gold mine in the area. The Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Compnay, casinos, City and County offices are the primary employers in the area.
Cripple Creek is host to many events throughout the year including Cripple Creek Ice Festival, Donkey Derby Days, American Veteran’s Annual POW/MIA ride and The Annual Cruise Above the Clouds. There are many must see attractions including the Cripple Creek Heritage Center, Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine, Butte Opera House and Cripple Creek & Victor Narrow Gauge Railroad.
